Joan Miro: La escalera de la evasion.

Juan Miro has been one of the most iconic contemporary artists, one of the main representatives of surrealism.
This exhibition includes more than 150 paintings, drawings, sculptures and engravings, all representative of Miro's excellent 60 year artistic career, with most of them being famous and loved.
The presented art works illustrate a restless and politically involved aspect of Juan Miro's work that reflects his passionate answer to one of the most troubled periods of European history. Working in Barcelona and in Paris, Juan Miro sketches the Spanish civil war and the first months of World War II, in France. Under the state of political constraints of Franco in Spain, Juan Miro remained a symbol of the international culture and his great abstract paintings, at the end of the 60's and the beginning of the 70's became symbols of resistance in the dead years of the state.

Exhibition duration: until 18 March 2012.
