[Biography: Thanasis Stefopoulos (1928), studied painting at the High School of Fine Arts, while D. Biskinis, P. Mathiopoulos, G. Moralis and O. Argyros were some of his instructors. G. Kefallinos was his engraving professor. He continued his studies in Paris where he, eventually, stayed and worked from 1956 until 1964. He was part of a large movement of modernists Tsoklis, Karas, Kaniaris, Gaitis who, in the early 1950s, were going to Paris in order to promote contemporary art in Greece. Thanasis Stephopoulos painting combines elements of both the Greek tradition and the European modernism of this period.]
